HB515 Edges Closer to Passage in the NC House

HB515, the bill which updates the credit union statutes in NC, passed out of the Judiciary Committee this week and was referred to the House floor. The bill was approved on two of its three floor votes on Thursday. The third and final vote is scheduled for Monday evening, May 6.

Political Training & Education

The League is available to discuss their political initiatives or to assist credit unions with their own political training initiatives.

Cathy Pace Testifies Before Senate Subcommittee on Financial Literacy

Cathy Pace, President of the Credit Union Division of Allegacy FCU, testified Wednesday before a US Senate subcommittee about the importance of youth financial education. The hearing, entitled "The Economic Importance of Financial Literacy for Students," was held in the Subcommittee on Children and Families.

Successful Visits with State Lawmakers Marked with Introduction of the Credit Union Bill

The annual State Capital Connections visits wrapped up this week with representatives from credit unions in the Northwest, North Piedmont, Foothill and Tarheel Chapters. In addition to discussing the value that credit unions are delivering in local communities, lawmakers were able to hear the credit union perspective on a number of consumer protection issues before the General Assembly this session.

Advocates Share Value of Credit Unions with State Lawmakers

State Capital Connections got underway this week as representatives from the Western, Piedmont, Southeast & Northeast Chapters traveled to Raleigh to meet with lawmakers. The credit union advocates spent their time with elected leaders talking about the value credit unions bring to their local communities as well as the entire state of North Carolina.
