NC Representative Efton Sager Recognized for Commitment to Credit Unions

The NC Credit Union League announced the winners of the 2011 Credit Union Advocate Award in Pinehurst during the Governmental Affairs Forum at the League’s Annual Meeting. Lauren Whaley, NCCUL Director of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs, presented the award to Efton Sager, one of this year’s recipients.

Congresswoman Renee Ellmers Visits with Rockfish VFD, LGFCU

Congresswoman Renee Ellmers began her Memorial Day weekend with a visit to the Rockfish Volunteer Fire Department last Friday afternoon. Located near Raeford in Hoke County, the Rockfish VFD received a business loan from Local Government FCU (LGFCU) in 2009 that allowed them to perform a much-needed expansion and renovation.

State Capital Connections: General Assembly Members Hear from Credit Unions on Financial Education & Economic Recovery Initiatives

During the State Capital Connections trip held earlier this week, more than a dozen credit union representatives joined the League in Raleigh to discuss with General Assembly members the benefits credit unions provide to the community. One of the key talking points during the meetings centered on how credit unions engage and educate North Carolinians of all ages, income groups and life stages, which speaks to the heart of the credit union philosophical mission of “people helping people”.

Western Chapter Hosts 11th District Candidate for House of Representatives

Western North Carolina credit unions gathered in Waynesville on Tuesday evening and as part of the monthly chapter meeting program, attendees welcomed Mark Meadows. Meadows is a Republican candidate running to replace retiring Congressman Heath Shuler.
