NC House Speaker Thom Tillis, who last week took to Twitter to announce his candidacy for the US Senate in 2014, will speak at the Governmental Affairs Forum in Pinehurst on Monday. Tillis has presided over the House during an eventful session of the General Assembly. The Republican majority has focused its legislative agenda on budget and tax reforms, as well as job creation.
The NC General Assembly has focused on many important issues of interest to credit unions, including tax reform," said NCCUL SVP of Association Services, Dan Schline. "We look forward to hearing Speaker Tillis' remarks on Monday, and giving credit unions the opportunity to ask him questions."
Earlier in the legislative session, the House passed HB515, the credit union bill. HB515 updates the credit union statutes. The bill has since been successfully referred out of committee in the NC Senate, and should be voted on in the coming week.
The Governmental Affairs Forum will also feature CUNA President/CEO Bill Cheney and Skip Humphrey of the CFPB. The complete agenda for the forum is listed below. To see the Annual Meeting program schedule and topics, please click here.
