The NC Association of Realtors (NCAR) offered its support of increasing the credit union member business lending cap last week in a letter to Senators Hagan and Burr. "The failure of many North Carolina banks to finance construction projects has been a source of great concern for our organization and our members," wrote NCAR President Lou Baldwin. "We urge you to take a stand for small businesses and for our 31,000 members in North Carolina, by supporting S 2231."
The bill, S 2231, is currently on the Senate calendar for consideration, but the timing of a vote is still in question. “The support of the North Carolina Realtors is powerful,” said Dan Schline, SVP of Association Services with the League. “With hundreds of small business owners from across the state contacting our Senators and now groups like the Realtors getting involved, we continue to demonstrate that our legislation has broad based support.”
