The League Minute

April 2013

Greetings from Raleigh! The NC Credit Union League is pleased to present the League Minute for April 2013.

The League exists to help credit unions succeed. We want to partner with credit unions in NC, support you and help you in any way that we can. To that end, here are three things that we’re working on at the League to help credit unions.

1. Annual Meeting/Future Leaders Forum: The League’s Annual Meeting is a couple of months away and we’re very excited about the program this year. One of the really great events happening in Pinehurst this year is the Future Leaders Forum, which takes place Sunday and Monday. The forum is a special learning track for young professionals in NC, and offers a networking and educational opportunity. The facilitator this year is Brent Dixon of the Filene Research Institute, who is a nationally-known speaker. The Future Leaders Forum will focus on social responsibility and cooperation among cooperatives. For more information, please visit the Future Leaders Forum page of the NCCUL web site … www.ncleague.org/futureleaders. For more information on the NCCUL Annual Meeting, please click here.

2. Hike the Hill: The North Carolina Credit Union League and SC Credit Union League will co-host a Hike the Hill trip to Washington, DC on May 14th – 16th. Hike the Hill provides credit union advocates an opportunity to provide to Congress with their perspectives on important issues. Participants will travel up on Tuesday, May 14 and enjoy a group dinner and briefing near the hotel. Wednesday will include a breakfast reception for congressional members and staff at Credit Union House, then meetings on Capitol Hill. For more information, please contact Pam Melton (919-457-9067) or click here.

3. Weekly Compliance Question: The League’s Compliance & Risk Management Department has started a new feature called the Weekly Compliance Question. The Weekly Compliance Question provides answers to the questions Jeanne Couchois & Dana Campbell hear most often. To view the question each week, please go to the Compliance Section of the NCCUL web site and look for the link to the Weekly Compliance Question near the top of the page.
