The Department of Social Security reclaimed the funds of a previous direct deposit by taking the check amount back out of the account from the month in which he had passed away. This meant that the account was in the negative for over $1000!

Triad Chapter of CUaware Hands Out Backpacks to the Homeless

The Triad chapter of the credit union professionals group, CUaware, distributed 62 backpacks filled with personal care items, first aid supplies and canned food to homeless men and women on the corner of North Point Blvd. and North Patterson Ave. in Winston-Salem. The event was part of CUaware’s community service project called Project Backpack.

Daniel “Chase” Mills is living his dream as a Sophomore Engineering student at NC State University. A gifted athlete and student, Chase balances his time between college club and intramural teams and a challenging course load and is well on his way to realizing his dream of becoming a mechanical engineer, thanks in large part to the Mel Hughes Scholarship. Awarded to four Allegacy members annually, this scholarship provides financial assistance to high-achieving students in the Triad.

Credit Union volunteers gathered at Victory Junction Camp on Sunday, June 24 to welcome the campers into their week. North and South Carolina Credit Unions are co-sponsoring this week of camp, which is focusing on heart, lung, and bleeding disorders. The theme for the week is America.

Northwest Chapter Raises $9,000 for Food Bank

More than 85 golfers combined forces to raise more than $9,000 for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC on May 16th. The golfers participated in the Northwest Chapter Golf Tournament, which was held at Salem Glen Country Club near Clemmons on May 16, 2012.
