Save to Win Launch: All of us at the League are excited to let you know that Save to Win, the prize-linked program that encourages people to develop a regular habit of saving money, has come to NC! Seven credit unions, including five in the Triad area and two in Asheville, are participating in the first Save to Win Campaign. Save to Win builds excitement around the concept of saving money by offering people chances to win monthly prize … and the opportunity to win a $30,000 grand prize at the end of the campaign a year from now. We’ve created a special informational section on Save to Win on the NCCUL web site. If you have any specific questions, please contact Geoff Finken at the League.
Compliance Department: In 2012, the League Compliance Department answered more than 3,500 calls and emails from credit unions about compliance-related issues. Jeanne Couchois and Dana Campbell are both attorneys and have a wealth of experience in helping credit unions with compliance related issues. We encourage all credit unions to take advantage of Jeanne and Dana’s expertise and to learn more about the range of compliance support services offered by the League.
League Meetings/CU Taxation: League and credit union staff have been meeting with newly-elected state and federal lawmakers in the weeks following the election. As we all know, budgets are stretched thin in Raleigh & Washington, and changes to tax policy are likely. These changes to the state and federal tax codes may include the credit union tax exemption. Maintaining the credit union tax exemption is central to ensuring the future strength and success of credit unions. We’ll be sharing what we’re hearing with credit union CEOs in the coming weeks, and providing talking points and other information for credit unions to consider using in their communications with staff and members.
