Item 1. BSA Workshop As you know, it is a busy time in compliance with many new regulations and rules going on the books. With so much going on, it’s easy to forget about longstanding rules like the Bank Secrecy Act. A BSA Workshop scheduled for December 6 in Raleigh will provide the latest updates in order to ensure your staff is up to date. LeVar Anderson of the NCCUL Audit Team will share some of the ongoing issues the audit team is seeing with BSA. In addition, a panel of NC BSA officers will be on hand to share what they are encountering – to register, please go to event page … or email compliance@ncleague.org for more information.
Item 2. Under $30 Million Roundtable In keeping with the League’s commitment to help credit unions succeed, a meeting of the Under 30 Million Roundtable in Raleigh is scheduled for Thursday, December 13 from 9:30 am until 3:30 pm. The meeting will provide thorough updates on current issues facing smaller credit union managers, including compliance, regulatory affairs and advocacy. In addition, a representative from NCUA’s Office of Small CU Initiatives will be on hand. A complete agenda and registration information is available by going to the Professional Development Center.
Item 3. Election Recap The League and credit unions supported dozens of our credit union friends running for the NC General Assembly and Congress this election cycle and we are pleased to report that 92% of those credit union supported candidates won. Many local credit unions were involved in supporting these pro-credit union candidates in a variety of ways during this election cycle. We thank you for this support and help. Please know that if you have an interest in inviting your local member of the NC House or NC Senate to visit your credit union the League can help you with that process. Please contact Pam Melton, the League Director of Political Affairs, for assistance.
