1. Don’t Tax My CU Update – With the Federal Government reopened after a drawn out fight, Members of Congress will once again begin focusing on longer-term fiscal reforms, including tax policy. NC credit unions have done a terrific job of educating members about the need for the CU corporate income tax exemption, and engaging elected leaders in Washington, DC. We encourage you to continue the Don’t Tax My Credit Union efforts in the weeks ahead. It is vital that credit union members and elected leaders understand why it is important to maintain the credit union tax exemption.
2. League Consolidation Update – The staff at the NC & SC Leagues continue working together to create the Carolinas CU League – your state trade association as of January 1! Work is proceeding smoothly on the new web site, plus key elements of the organizational strategy and the strategic plan for the new League. The staff is very excited about the future and dedicated to creating a League that credit unions can be proud of. 3. 2014 Governmental Affairs Conference - The 2014 CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, DC will be held February 23–27. This signature conference for advocacy will gather thousands of your peers from February 23-27 to demonstrate political strength, join in industry updates, and work together toward legislative priorities, regulatory clarity, and success for each of us and our members.
In addition to this being the credit union movement’s premier political event, the conference will be the first gathering of the new Carolinas Credit Union League!
