Latino Credit Union announces a special loan to assist eligible Dreamers seeking educational and employment opportunities through the United States Citizens and Immigration Service (USCIS) deferred action process for young individuals who were brought to the United States as children.

With Team State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) leading the charge, North Carolina earned top honors at this year’s National Youth Involvement Board (NYIB) Conference held early this month in New Orleans, LA. For the second consecutive year, North Carolina placed first in the Number of Students Reached through Youth Presentations teaching financial literacy to a total of 55,604 students.

On Friday, August 3rd, 2012, Members CU held its Annual Charity Golf Tournament at the Salem Glen Golf and Country Club in Clemmons, NC. This year’s tournament raised $7,000. The proceeds were divided equally between the Members CU Scholarship Fund and The Children’s Home, in Winston-Salem, NC.

SECU members via the SECU Foundation are pleased to provide funding for the purchase of new service units to be used by the North Carolina Troopers Association/North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCTA/NCSHP) Caisson Unit. The new vehicles will provide increased capacity to safely transport Caisson Unit horses, personnel, and equipment to funeral ceremonies for North Carolina law enforcement officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty.

In continued support of the arts in education, SECU members via the SECU Foundation have provided the North Carolina Symphony with $140,000 in funding for a new 28-foot insulated vehicle. The new vehicle will help the nationally recognized North Carolina Symphony continue its broad travels across the state to bring world-class talent and musical performances to North Carolina students and communities each year.

SECU members via the SECU Foundation are providing a 10-year $2.5 million low-interest loan to assist with the construction of a Program for All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) facility in Pittsboro, North Carolina

Allegacy Federal Credit Union announced that Ashley Kohlrus is one of 31 credit union leaders competing in the Credit Union Executives Society’s (CUES) 2012 Next Top Credit Union Exec contest. CUES highlights and honors emerging leaders age 35 and under from within the credit union community and recognizes the work they are doing to advance their credit union and the movement.

The facility, located in the town of Bolivia, was made possible through the many donors of the Closer to Home capital campaign, for which SECU members provided a $1 million grant via the SECU Foundation. Numerous State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) representatives and volunteers were on hand for the festivities, including SECU Foundation Board Chair Jim Barber, who spoke at the event.

The Summit Credit Union Branch located on 800 Summit Avenue in Greensboro, NC will relocate later this week - to the other side of the same building.
