CU Aware Helps Young Professionals Thrive at NCCUL Annual Meeting

The NCCUL began the Young Professionals track, putting on a one-day series of educational sessions for YPs the past two years. This year, they partnered with CUaware founders Patrick Livingston and Brandon McAdams to create a more expansive agenda. Founded in early 2011, CUaware is a group of Raleigh-Durham credit union employees who meet monthly to foster interaction with, and awareness of, the credit union movement.

SE CUNA Management School Readies 35 for Leadership

The 2012 Southeast Regional Credit Union Schools’ (SRCUS) CUNA Management School in Athens, Georgia culminated Friday, June 15 with graduation of thirty-five credit union leaders, including two from North Carolina.

Fort Bragg FCU Donates to Local Cancer Center

On June 19, 2012, David Elliott and wife, Renee, presented a check from Fort Bragg Federal Credit Union for $6000 to Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation’s Friends of the Cancer Center. “As a community partner, we believe in helping to make a difference” says Elliott, President/CEO of Fort Bragg Federal Credit Union. “Our 13th year in support of FOCC shows a direct reflection of our commitment to this organization and its mission.”

Credit Unions Team Up to Save Fireworks Display in Forsyth County

The show goes on! Thanks to Winston-Salem Federal Credit Union, Piedmont Advantage Credit Union and the Winston-Salem Journal, the annual Fourth of July fireworks display will be held next week at Tanglewood Park. In a typical year, some 8,000 people flock to the park for an early evening picnic, concert and fireworks display.

SECU Further Demonstrates its Support of Pew Safe Checking Standards

In October 2011, State Employees’ Credit Union announced its support of The Pew Charitable Trust recommendations to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau of full and fair disclosure of checking account policies and fees at all financial institutions. Recommendations included full and concise fee disclosures, reasonable and proportional overdraft fees, and elimination of transaction reordering for maximization of overdraft fees.

Coastal Federal Credit Union Receives Celent Model Bank Award

Coastal Federal Credit Union received the 2012 Model Bank Award from Celent Research Services. Celent’s annual Model Bank report recognized Coastal as a pioneer in deploying uGenius Video Banking technology for its branch operations.

Member Loyalty High on State Employees’ Credit Union 2012 Survey!

2012 Survey results showed 98% of SECU member respondents were satisfied with their credit union, of which 90% marked “very satisfied.” More notably, however, was the 60% of SECU members who indicated “high loyalty” to their cooperative, which is above the previous year’s figure and nearly doubles the credit union peer average of 32%.
