The NC Credit Union League honored Truliant Federal Credit Union (TFCU) for its community involvement efforts in 2011. TFCU won second place in the statewide Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award category.

WSFCU received the statewide Louise A. Herring Philosophy in Action Member Service Award and the Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award at a special banquet held during the 77th Annual Meeting of the NC Credit Union League.

Today marks an important milestone in the history of State Employees’ Credit Union. It’s the Credit Union’s 75th anniversary! In conjunction with this milestone, the cooperative is celebrating with a ribbon cutting at SECU’s new Lowe’s Grove branch, built on the site of the first rural credit union in North Carolina.

Continuing its efforts to help North Carolina students, SECU has agreed to purchase up to $25 million in federally insured student loans from the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (SEAA).

SECU recently reached yet another record-breaking milestone in its fundraising efforts for March of Dimes, raising nearly $70,000 for the charity. In 2011, Credit Union staff raised an impressive $59,000, but found a way to beat that figure by more than $10,000 in 2012.

The new appointments are an integral part of LGFCU’s volunteer-driveninitiative not only to educate people on the benefits of credit union membership, but also to relay feedback to the board of directors regarding available/potentially available products and services, delivery of service and member needs.

Certified Credit Union Executive (CCUE) designations were awarded to 89 individuals from 18 different states, bringing the total nationwide to 3,109. Thirty designees are from North Carolina.

Local Government Federal Credit Union congratulates 120 recipients of its LGFCU Scholarship Award, and 24 recipients of its School of Government Scholarship Award, both designed to exclusively assist local government members and employees in their academic and career pursuits.

Advanced Fraud Solutions (AFS) in Kernersville, NC announced this week the promotion of Lawrence Reaves to President and CEO. The rapidly-growing company provides innovative product and service solutions that help stop fraud at the transactional level.  

State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) recently helped North Carolina’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) reach 3,900 NC middle and high school students, encouraging youth leadership and success.
