 In honor of his distinguished service, leadership, and commitment to SECU and the credit union industry, a retirement reception was held March 28th in Raleigh, NC, at the Nature Research Center, the new wing of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences and home to the SECU Daily Planet.

The new appointments are an integral part of LGFCU’s volunteer-driven initiative not only to educate people on the benefits of credit union membership, but also to relay feedback to the board of directors regarding available/potentially available products and services, delivery of service and member needs.

The NC Credit Union League is providing an opportunity for a young professional in NC to attend the Future Leaders Forum at the NCCUL Annual Meeting in Pinehurst.

The Board of Palmetto Cooperative Services LLC today announced that Brad Miller will serve as the credit union service organization’s new President and CEO, effective April 8, 2013. He succeeds longtime CEO Ed Culpepper who retired late last year.

Electel Cooperative Federal Credit Union offered a two-day loan promotion to members centered around St. Patricks Day. For two days only, on Friday March 15th and Monday March 18th, members of Electel Cooperative were able to get a personal loan for twelve months at 1.9%APR or twenty-four months at 2.9%APR.

SECU is reaching out to local public school students and the farming community in Ahoskie, North Carolina, joining in a new adventure – a community garden project. In mid-April, Credit Union staff and Advisory Board members at SECU’s Ahoskie branch will oversee the development of the project on a 1.5 acre open field adjacent to the branch office.

Summit Credit Union is pleased to announce its Loan Saver $1 Million Challenge intended to help members save money by transferring loans from predatory lenders.Located on the Credit Union’s website, the Loan Saver calculator helps members easily see how much they can save by transferring their loans.
 

One of the fundamental purposes of a credit union is to save members money. Credit Unions routinely do this by offering lower interest rates on loans and charging minimal fees for services. This focus on saving members money helped Credit Unions hit a record number of members over the last two years, as a growing number of consumers grew fed up with the fees at the nation's biggest banks and took their money elsewhere.
