Two CMCU employees have been promoted, it was announced by Ann Robbins, the credit union’s senior vice president of Human Resources. Melissa Clark is now the manager of the University branch on West W.T. Harris Blvd. Andrea Jordan was promoted to manager of the Ashley Rd. branch.

SECU recently reached a significant member service milestone, opening its one millionth SECU checking account! The one millionth account figure reinforces SECU members’ recognition of the value provided by the consumer-friendly features of the account.

The International Credit Union Leadership Program brings emerging leaders from around the world to various credit unions, both in the United States and abroad, for intensive short-term credit union internships designed to broaden their professional expertise. The program is designed to facilitate idea exchanges, promote foreign language development, enhance cultural diversity and improve problem-solving skills as they relate to global credit union development and management.

Elizabeth N. Hamilton was just a teenager in 1943 when she became the Secretary of the Board of Directors of Tri-City Telco Credit Union, now Summit Credit Union. After 70 years of service she has decided not to seek reelection to the Credit Union’s Board of Directors, thus making her the longest serving credit union volunteer in US history.

The awards were presented by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Marketing & Business Development Council (MBDC), a national network comprised of over 1,100 credit union marketing and business development professionals. Awards were given in each of 33 categories ranging from advertising to community events and beyond.

CUNA Mutual Group has added four new Online Risk Assessments to its Credit Union Protection Resource Center to help Bond policyholders avoid some of the fastest-growing and most costly risks.Risk assessments are interactive and not only identify risk exposures a credit union faces but also provide mitigation recommendations based on specific responses the credit union provides.
 

After a career spanning 38 years with Allegacy Federal Credit Union, longtime CEO, W.K. “Ike” Keener, announced his retirement today. The organization’s board of directors named Cathy Pace, credit union division president, to succeed Keener as chief executive officer.

The Triad chapter of the credit union professionals group, CUaware, distributed 62 backpacks filled with personal care items, first aid supplies and canned food to homeless men and women on the corner of North Point Blvd. and North Patterson Ave. in Winston-Salem. The event was part of CUaware’s community service project called Project Backpack.

Welcome Federal Credit Union, Habitat for Humanity of Wake County, and the engineering firm Stewart deconstructed a small home located on property that will be the future home of the Main Branch of the Credit Union. Welcome Federal Credit Union staff, Stewart staff, and Habitat staff participated in the deconstruction project that involved dismantling the structure by hand.

 In honor of his distinguished service, leadership, and commitment to SECU and the credit union industry, a retirement reception was held March 28th in Raleigh, NC, at the Nature Research Center, the new wing of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences and home to the SECU Daily Planet.
