In Memoriam: Paulette Bowden, State Employees' Credit Union

Paulette Bowden accepted the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award on behalf of SECU in June.  
Paulette Bowden, VP of IRA Systems and Projects for State Employees’ Credit Union, passed away Sunday, August 12th at 63 years of age.
Paulette shared 32 years of dedicated service to the members of State Employees’ Credit Union and was well-respected throughout the organization. As Vice President of IRA Systems and Projects, Paulette was instrumental in establishing the Credit Union’s IRA department, which today services over 132,000 tax advantaged accounts with nearly $3 billion in assets. She successfully led a new Education Planning initiative in 2009 known as FAFSA Day, now held each February in all 244 branch locations statewide.  SECU’s FAFSA Day program received statewide recognition in June 2012, and on behalf of the Credit Union, Paulette proudly accepted the first place honor for the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award given by the North Carolina Credit Union League. 
 
Paulette was a graduate of Broughton High School and the University Of California in Los Angeles. She leaves behind her daughter Jamie N. Mitchell and grandson James A. Jones IV, four siblings, a foster daughter and numerous nieces, nephews, and foster children. 
State Employees’ Credit Union is saddened by her death and her Credit Union colleagues, friends, and members will miss her very much.
