Local Government Federal Credit Union (LGFCU) proudly announces the appointment of Dayatra Matthews to the newly-created position of SVP, Legal and Compliance.
Matthews, who spent the last 14 years in private practice at the Raleigh law firm of Bailey & Dixon, LLP, has a background in commercial and business litigation, contract law, real estate litigation, employment and labor law, municipal law, complex personal injury litigation and insurance defense. In her new position, she will ensure LGFCU conducts its business in compliance with all laws and applicable regulations, as well as act as a legal resource on the interpretation and application of existing and proposed local, state and federal laws affecting credit unions.
Matthews is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a 1997 graduate of Duke University School of Law. She is licensed in all North Carolina State Courts, Federal District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of North Carolina, and the United States Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit. She is also a member of the Wake County, North Carolina and American Bar Association; North Carolina Association of Black Attorneys; North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys; and Defense Research Institute.
