The show goes on! Thanks to Winston-Salem Federal Credit Union, Piedmont Advantage Credit Union and the Winston-Salem Journal, the annual Fourth of July fireworks display will be held next week at Tanglewood Park.
Tanglewood Park has hosted an annual Fourth of July fireworks display for more than 20 years. In a typical year, some 8,000 people flock to the park for an early evening picnic, concert and fireworks display.
Tanglewood, which is part of the Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Department, had earlier announced the cancellation of the popular event due to county budget cuts and the lack of a sponsor. “Fireworks are a big part of the Fourth of July holiday, and we didn’t want to see thousands of people miss out on something that is an important part of their celebration each year,” said Winston-Salem FCU President/CEO Tony Ebron.
WSFCU teamed up with Piedmont Advantage and the Journal to save the event. “Piedmont Advantage is committed to the Winston-Salem community and this is one way we can give back,” said President/CEO Judy Tharp. “It’s our pleasure to combine forces with Winston-Salem FCU and the Journal to make sure the show goes on!”
Brooke Kochanski, the Marketing and Events Manager for Forsyth County Parks and Recreation, says she is thrilled that the event has been rescued this year by the three sponsors. “The event will be bigger than ever with live music from the Below the Line Band and an impressive fireworks show,” Kochanski noted.
Tanglewood announced that the gates to the Park’s Steeplechase Track will open at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 to allow for picnicking before the fireworks display, which will begin at approximately 9:30 pm. Below the Line will be performing at the concert shell from 6:00-9:00 pm.
The admission cost for the fireworks display is $5 per car and $10 per bus or motorcoach.
