The NC Credit Union League honored Telco Community Credit Union (TCCU) for its community involvement efforts in 2011. TCCU won second place in the statewide Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award category. The credit union received its award June 11 at a recognition banquet at the 77th Annual Meeting of the NC Credit Union League.
The annual Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award recognizes and promotes credit unions’ social responsibility efforts within the communities they serve. TCCU won second place in the $50 - $100 million asset category for its support of the Western NC Rescue Ministries.
The credit union held a series of fundraisers through the year to help fund the programs of the Rescue Ministry, including raffles, bake sales and a silent auction. These combined efforts helped more than 150 people receive services from the Ministry in 2011.
The credit union staff also volunteers at the Rescue Ministry on a monthly basis. These dedicated volunteers prepare and serve meals to the Ministry guests.
