David Campbell, a longtime member of the Telco Community CU (TCCU) Board of Directors, won the prestigious Mark of Excellence Award at the 78th annual meeting of the North Carolina Credit Union League (NCCUL). Campbell received the award, one of the highest honors bestowed to credit union people in North Carolina, in a special awards ceremony held Monday evening, June 10th in Pinehurst.
The Mark of Excellence Award recognizes sustained leadership among NC credit union people. Eligibility is limited to past winners of the Ronald J. Hutchins Credit Union Person of the Year Award who have at least 25 years of service in the credit union industry. A committee made up of statewide credit union leaders selected Campbell to receive the award.
Campbell has been a member of TCCU for 60 years. He was elected to the Board of Directors in 1979 and has played a central role in the credit union’s evolution into a modern financial institution that has steadily grown through the years. Campbell has twice served as Chairman during his board tenure. Previous to joining the board, he also served as a loan officer for several years.
Campbell’s ethic of service extends beyond the credit union. He previously served as a member of the Board of Elections for Burke County, and also participates in the Burke County Friends for Animals program. Campbell has also been active through the years in other community service organizations, including the Burke County 4H Club, the Cattlemen’s Association.
Campbell won the Ronald J. Hutchins Credit Union Person of the Year Award in 2011.
