Leslie Colin (L.C.) Kelly, a longtime member of the Charlotte Fire Department CU (CFDCU) Board of Directors, won the prestigious Mark of Excellence Award at the 78th annual meeting of the North Carolina Credit Union League (NCCUL). Kelly received the award, one of the highest honors bestowed to credit union people in North Carolina, in a special awards ceremony held Monday evening, June 10th in Pinehurst.
The Mark of Excellence Award recognizes sustained leadership among NC credit union people. Eligibility is limited to past winners of the Ronald J. Hutchins Credit Union Person of the Year Award who have at least 25 years of service in the credit union industry. A committee made up of statewide credit union leaders selected Kelly to receive the award.
Kelly’s service on the CFDCU Board of Directors covers 38 years. Through the years, he has been an integral part of the credit union’s success in meeting the needs of its members. He also volunteers considerable time in a variety of other credit union roles in order to ensure the future success of CFDCU, as well as credit unions throughout the country.
In addition to his credit union service, Kelly served as a Charlotte firefighter for more than 30 years, and he also proudly served in the National Guard. He also serves the local community through his involvement with the Jaycees and the Optimist Club.
Kelly won the Ronald J. Hutchins Credit Union Person of the Year Award in 2010.
