Members Credit Union to Hold Charity Walk for Wig Bank of Caldwell County

Posted on March 27, 2012

Fundraising and registration for Members Credit Union’s (MCU) inaugural Wig Walk, a 5K walk and fun run to benefit the Wig Bank of Caldwell County, is underway. The Wig Bank is a non profit cancer services center that provides prosthetic wigs for cancer patients, promotes the importance of cancer screenings and helps fund transportation to cancer treatment centers in Winston-Salem, NC and Tennessee.

"Thanks to donations from organizations like Members Credit Union, we can continue to provide emotional, financial and educational support for Caldwell County’s cancer patients," explained David Icard, co-founder of the Caldwell County Wig Bank.

Icard, along with co-founder Alicia Stanislaw opened the doors to the Wig Bank in 2001. Since then, the services offered to their community have expanded to include support groups such as Restorative Yoga, Arm in Arm and Just Us Guys.

"The Wig Bank provides a valuable service to their community by meeting the needs of cancer patients financially and emotionally," said Eric Stiff, VP of Marketing at MCU. "We’re proud to raise money for such a well respected charity in Caldwell County."

The Wig Walk is on Saturday, May 12th and will take place at the Lenoir Aquatics and Fitness Center (LAFC) on 1031 Jim Barger Court in Lenoir, NC. Participants are encouraged to wear a costume wig during the walk and enter the wig contest. Registration begins at 9 AM and the walk begins at 10 AM. Early registration is accepted at all MCU locations for $20. The cost to register on the day of the event at the LAFC is $25. 100% of the proceeds will benefit the Wig Bank of Caldwell County. Additional details, registration forms and flyers for this event are available at www.memcu.com/WigWalk.
