One of North Carolina's oldest credit unions marked its 85th anniversary of service this week. On Monday March 11, Greensboro Postal Credit Union met at Lawndale Baptist Church for its annual meeting. Members attended a brief business meeting, registered for tickets for door prizes and enjoyed refreshments.
GPCU's Credit Committee Chairman, George Pierce, is retiring and celebrating his 85th birthday. Board President Dan Swanson awarded Pierce a plaque and a cake.
Three postal credit unions in NC hold the distinction of being the oldest in the state. Asheville Postal, Fayetteville Postal and GPCU were all chartered in 1928.
