(Editor's Note: Carolinas Credit Union Foundation President/CEO John McGrail wrote the following thank you for credit union support of the Carolinas Cup Golf Tournament.)
Thank you to all of you who participated in the ninth annual Carolinas Cup held March 24-26 at the Ballantyne Resort. Once again your overwhelming generosity made this year’s event a huge success. The golf event combined with the auction evening raised close to $60,000 and will allow the North and South Carolina Credit Unions to once again co-sponsor a week of camp at Victory Junction. Thanks to you no one coming to camp for the week of July 14-18 will have to pay anything to attend. That is a huge gift made possible by your giving and on behalf of the camp and the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation I want to say how much you are appreciated.
The Credit Unions’ commitment to Victory Junction is a very special thing. As Richard Petty noted at the Auction, “Credit Unions have been there before the beginning [of the Camp] and have been a big part of it ever since.” We are looking forward to next year being the tenth Carolinas Cup, as well as the tenth year of the Camp. Thanks to a generous gift, Kevin Tennyson has offered for up to 20 first time attendees to come next year and he will personally [partially] sponsor them at $100 each. I want to sincerely thank Kevin, as well as all of the CUNA Mutual team for putting together such a wonderful event. In total the Carolinas Cup has raised close to $450,000 for the Camp! I want us all to make sure that the tenth is the biggest ever so make plans now to attend and give generously.
Speaking of July 14, the Foundation is once again holding a welcoming party for the campers coming that week which will host children with Rheumatologic Disorders/Bleeding Disorders/Gastrointestinal Disorders. Please plan to come out that Sunday afternoon and make the entire long driveway into the Camp a party. Parents have told me how much it means to them to see the Credit Union folks all along the driveway holding up signs, waving, and shouting their greetings. I hope you will plan to bring your Credit Union’s team and make this a huge beginning to the campers’ week.
More details will come soon. Thank you for all you do for the Camp, for the Foundation, and for continually creating the Credit Union difference in our communities.
