In 1932, seven employees of Champion Paper and Fiber Company joined together to form Champion Credit Union. Now serving the communities of Western North Carolina, Champion Credit Union took time on Thursday, September 20 to thank their members for their loyal membership and celebrate their 80 years of local service with their annual Member Appreciation Day.

Each office celebrated with their members, serving lunch from the local credit union favorite Black Bear Café and talking to them about their time with Champion Credit Union. One member candidly remarked on the past, recalling the aged pictures that he has kept from various credit union events over the years. The Canton office invited the public to take part in a Voter Registration Drive, which gave people the opportunity to register to vote, update their information, and pre-register 16-17 year-olds. The credit union partnered with the North Carolina Credit Union League, welcoming Pam Melton to help with the event.

Joe Sam Queen and a representative for Hayden Rogers joined the event, enjoying lunch and mingling with the members and staff. “It’s always nice to spend time with the members and tell them how much we appreciate them,” says Mike Clayton, President of Champion Credit Union. “To have support from our local representatives and community members makes the day even better.”
