It’s time to show members of Congress that credit unions have a powerful voice and tremendous Grassroots strength. The US Senate will soon have an opportunity to vote on the Credit Union Small Business Jobs Bill, S 2231. Your help is critical and is needed TODAY!!
The Credit Union Small Jobs Bill would raise the total amount of small business loans a credit union could issue from 12.25% of a credit union’s total assets to 27.5%. Economists estimate this bipartisan bill would create 140,000 jobs and infuse $13 billion into the economy… at zero cost to taxpayers.
“Our time is now, we’ve reached a pivotal moment in leveraging our resources to ensure passage of this legislation,” said NCCUL Director of Political Affairs, Pam Melton. “We need to capitalize on this moment by energizing the Credit Union Grassroots Network and contacting our NC Senators and asking them to support this important bill.”
Bottom Line: Both parties need to put aside partisan politics and rally behind this issue. A yes vote brings the political focus back to job creation and economic growth. In addition, a legislative victory better positions credit unions for future legislative successes.
“There is tremendous momentum surrounding the Small Business Jobs Bill from both bankers and credit unions,” said Melton. “I urge you to steer this energy in our direction by selecting the following link contact Senators Burr and Hagan today and ask them to support S 2231.
For those of you who will respond to the alert and those of you who have already sent an email this week. THANK YOU! Together we can accomplish a significant win for credit unions and small business owners.
