| Joy Watts is a 35-year veteran of the credit union movement. She began her career as a teller at Siecor Credit Union, and was named President/CEO of Carolina Postal CU in 1997. |
The Piedmont Chapter elected Joy Watts to the NC Credit Union League board of directors on Thursday. Watts, who serves as the President/CEO of Carolina Postal Credit Union, succeeds Bill Flowers of Carolinas Telco Federal Credit Union. Flowers retired from the credit union movement in June.
Watts has been a leader in various roles in the credit union movement for many years. She has been president of CPCU since 1997 and has helped the credit union flourish during her tenure. In addition, Watts serves in a variety of leadership roles in the state and national credit union movement. Watts has served as a board member for the NC Credit Union Executives Society, as Secretary from 1999 – 2003; on the First Carolina Corporate Credit Union Credit Committee; as board member for Carolina Credit Union Services; and as a Piedmont Chapter board member.
She has also received many awards for her leadership, including the Credit Union Executive Society (CUES) Golden Mirror Award, the CUES Chairman’s Club Award and the Credit Union Times’ Trailblazer Award. In addition, Watts' peers in the NC credit union movement selected her as the Ronald J. Hutchins Credit Union Person of the Year in 2010.
