As DNC Gets Set to Descend on Charlotte, Credit Unions to Cut Ribbon on Levine Rooftop Garden Project

Posted on August 29, 2012

The Queen City will soon be the center of the American political landscape, as the Democratic National Convention gets underway next week. Democrats will formally nominate Barack Obama as the Party's standard-bearer for President.

In addition to a busy slate of DNC festivities, credit unions will be able to participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony at Charlotte’s Levine Children’s Hospital. Credit Unions partnered with the Democratic National Convention Committee and National Journal to refurbish a playground at the hospital as a special leave behind projected related to the convention. The playground ribbon cutting ceremony will be held the morning of Wednesday, September 5 at the Levine Children’s Hospital.

The Charlotte playground dedication follows the dedication of a similar project in St. Petersburg, FL August 29. Ann Romney, the wife of Republican Presidential Nominee Mitt Romney, appeared at the ceremony and praised the credit union project. (Please click here for details from CUNA NewsNow.)

Credit unions are welcome to join in on this event, which caps a successful $300,000 fundraising campaign. For more information or to RSVP, please click here.
