| NC Rep. Susan Fisher is serving her fifth term in the General Assembly. She took a leading role in the passage of the Save to Win bill, which passed the NC General Assembly in 2011. |
“I have to share this award with other people in the General Assembly because the bill we shepherded was really an example of the miracle of bi-partisanship,” Fisher noted of the successful effort to pass the bill in 2011. “Any time I can find a chance to work across the aisle with my colleagues I will do that.”
Fisher added that Save to Win will, “spur on savings from among all your (members) during a really difficult financial time. North Carolina Credit Unions are to be applauded for providing an innovative incentive program for savings.”
The Credit Union Advocate Award honors state and federal legislators who have demonstrated a clear and consistent understanding of and appreciation for credit unions. Through their willingness to publicly and strongly support credit unions and seek credit union perspectives when considering proposed legislation, Credit Union Advocates demonstrate their commitment to the NC credit union movement and the millions of North Carolinians who choose credit unions.
Fisher joins NC Representative Efton Sager (R – 11th) and NC Senator Rick Gunn (R – 24th) as winners of the award in 2012.
