From CU trade publications to CUNA and other national trade associations, credit union professionals have a lot of choices when it comes to sources of political information. In order to keep credit union staff in NC informed about political and legislative developments, the NC Credit Union League features two electronic newsletters that bring unique value.
Update from the State's Capital and the Federal Legislative Update keep you updated as to the political happenings in Raleigh and Washington, DC. Both publications focus on credit union legislative issues from a North Carolina perspective.
"From a communications standpoint, we think it's important to focus on providing newsletter content that is unique to North Carolina credit union professionals," said Dan Schline, SVP of Association Services. Schline, who edits the Federal Legislative Update, added that League staff keep tabs on what's going on with federal and state lawmakers from North Carolina "and report on the issues they are considering that are relevant to credit unions."
Both publications are issued on a regular basis when Congress and the NC General Assembly are in session. "With credit union professionals getting pulled in a lot of different directions, we think it's important to communicate in a consistent and concise way when policy makers are in session," said Lauren Whaley, the NCCUL Director of Legislative & Regulatory Affairs, who serves as editor of Update from the State's Capital. "Sustained credit union political engagement is a big commitment, and we want to make it as easy as possible for people to stay informed."
