Rudy Ford, who served on the Fort Bragg FCU Board of Directors for nearly 20 years, passed away December 28, 2011. The 65 year old Ford, who retired as a command sergeant major in the US Army, was a highly decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Ford's obituary in the
Fayetteville Observer noted that prior to his death, he was the training and education specialist for the cadet command on Fort Bragg.
Ford was elected to the Ft. Bragg FCU board in 1993 and served continuously until his death. His distinguished service to the credit union included many committees of the board, including the nominating, investment, policy & planning, annual meeting and building committees. He most recently served as the treasurer of the $385 million credit union.
"Director Ford was officially my boss, but that’s not the relationship we had," said Ft. Bragg FCU President/CEO David Elliott. "He was more of a mentor and personal friend. He was a true American hero who always looked after our members of modest means."
Survivors include his wife, Emma Ford; a son, Jonathan Ford; four brothers, three sisters, and an uncle. Mr. Ford's obituary may be viewed by clicking here (the obituary for Mr. Ford is in the December 2011 listings - or you may search by name).
