Following the conclusion of the Annual Meeting in Pinehurst on June 12, the NCCUL board elected its executive committee for the upcoming year. The board re-elected all four directors to their previously held roles - Maurice Smith won re-election as Chairman, Patty Idol will serve as Vice Chairman, Jeff Jones won re-election as Treasurer, and Lola Bumbarger was re-elected Secretary of the 11-person board.
Maurice Smith, the President of Local Government Federal Credit Union (LGFCU), was re-elected Chairman of the NC Credit Union League Board of Directors. Smith, who was first elected Chairman in 2010, was re-elected Chairman of the 11-member board. Smith will serve another one-year term.
Smith holds more than 30 years of experience in credit unions. He began his career as a loan officer with State Employees’ Credit Union in 1979. He joined LGFCU as EVP in 1992 and was promoted to President/CEO of LGFCU in 1999.
Patty Idol, the President/CEO of Mountain Credit Union, was re-elected Vice Chairman of the NC Credit Union League Board of Directors. She was first elected Vice Chair in 2010.
Idol’s credit union career spans 30 years. She has been President/CEO of the Waynesville-based Mountain Credit Union since 1999.
Jeff Jones, the President/CEO of Freedom Federal Credit Union, was re-elected Treasurer of the NC Credit Union League Board of Directors. He will serve another one-year term.
Jones’ credit union career spans more than 30 years, including more than 25 years at Freedom. Under his leadership, the Rocky Mount-based credit union has transformed from a single sponsor, single branch, limited service operation to a multi-sponsor, multi-branch, full service institution.
Lola Bumbarger, the Manager/President of Century Employees’ Savings Fund Credit Union, was re-elected Secretary of the NC Credit Union League Board of Directors. She will serve another one-year term.
Bumbarger’s credit union career spans more than 30 years. She has been Manager/President of the Hickory-based credit union since 1991.
