Volunteer Day to Bring Democratic National Convention Committee Staff & CUs Together

Posted on May 31, 2012

(Editor's note: for more on the Rooftop Garden Project, please go to coverage of the groundbreaking event in April.)

Credit union representatives and staff at the Democratic National Convention Committee will come together for a day of service at Levine Children’s Hospital later this month.  The volunteer day, scheduled for June 27, 2012, will mark another step in a partnership between credit unions, the DNCC, and Levine that will culminate in September with the completion of a new rooftop playground at the hospital.

“Construction has begun on the playground and fundraising is well underway,” explained John McGrail, President of the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation, the organization responsible for raising the $300,000 to complete the rooftop playground.  “The volunteer day will be an opportunity for all of us to join together with the children at Levine and the hospital staff to celebrate and support the good work that goes on at the hospital.”

The volunteer day will take place from 10 AM to noon on June 27.  Volunteers will have an opportunity to join patients in an arts and crafts project, see the progress on the 12th floor playground, and take a tour of the hospital.  Credit unions interested in participating should contact John McGrail for more information at jmgrail@carolinasfoundation.org or can RSVP to the event through Geoff Finken at gfinken@ncleague.org.
