Welcome FCU President/CEO Sue Williams Announces Retirement

Sue Williams, President/CEO of Welcome Federal Credit Union, announced her retirement from the credit union effective October 2012. Williams began her career with the credit union in January 1975 as a volunteer on the Loan Committee. The credit union hired Williams as a Loan Officer in 1978, and subsequently promoted her to General Manager in 1983.

Under her leadership, Welcome FCU has grown from $4.9 million to $93.4 million in assets; from two branches to five; and from two full time employees to 27.

The Welcome Board of Directors announced that Cynthia Jenkins, Executive Vice-President/COO, has been selected to become President/CEO in October. Jenkins began her career at Welcome FCU as a part-time employee in 1982 in the Greenville Branch, and became a full time employee in 1983.

Jenkins was promoted to Branch Manager in Greenville in 1984 and then to Branch Manager at the 5 Moore Drive Branch in 1996. The credit union named Jenkins Manager of Branch Operations in 1998, and in January 2006  promoted her to Executive Vice-President/COO.

As President/CEO, Cynthia will work with the Board of Directors in shaping the vision and culture of Welcome Federal Credit Union.
