The required SAFE Act renewal period begins November 1, 2011. If your credit union registered with the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (Registry), the credit union must renew the organization’s and all mortgage loan originators (MLO) registrations by December 31, 2011. Registered MLOs will not have to pay a registration fee this year, but a $100 annual renewal fee is required for each credit union on the Registry.
