The NC Credit Union League won two awards from the American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL). The League won a first place Blockbuster Award for its 2009 Annual Report, titled
Navigating the Storm, and an honorable mention for the re-design of the Credit Union Political Action Committee (CUPAC) logo.
AACUL announced the awards during the League Communicators Conference in Minneapolis last week. The Pro and Blockbuster awards recognize outstanding league and league service corporation communications efforts. Pro Awards honor the best in public relations and publications, and the Blockbuster Awards pay tribute to excellence in marketing and advertising. These coveted awards are the highest communications awards bestowed on leagues and LSCs.
Navigating the Storm focused on the various ways in which credit unions in NC worked in partnership with the League to navigate a very difficult operating environment in 2009 in the wake of the financial crisis. The cover design, which was produced by Cathy Killebrew of the League's Marketing Department, featured a lighthouse amid stormy seas. The award recognized the cover art and inside design.
Killebrew also won recognition for her re-design of the CUPAC logo. The CUPAC logo design deatures vivid red, white and blue colors the letter C in the shape of a person.
