Tweet All About It: International Credit Union Day Gets Hashtag

Posted on October 11, 2011

Twitter hashtag for International Credit Union Day:  #icuday11

Credit unions and chapters throughout NC will be celebrating how they Build A Better World next week during International Credit Union Day. This year, credit unions can use Twitter to collectively show the many ways in which they are celebrating!

CUNA and WOCCU encourage credit unions to Tweet words and pictures from their events using the Twitter hashtag for International Credit Union Day - #icuday11 (If you are not sure what a hashtag is or how to use it, please click here for a primer on the topic from the Twitter help forums.) In addition, here is an example of a Tweet from the League using the hashtag:

@NCCUL The NW Chapter of Credit Unions is going to show The Disclosures #icuday11 song at their meeting Oct. 20th. Good times! http://bit.ly/oTmHHG

By using this hashtag in each International Credit Union Day Tweet, credit unions nationwide can aggregate the ways in which they are celebrating with members and each other. Crafty credit union marketers may also want to figure out fun ways to get members Tweeting about their credit unions using the hashtag as well.

If you're somewhat new to Twitter or don't use it much, here is a quick primer on how to upload a picture using the Twitter site. If you will be using a Smartphone to upload pictures, third party applications such as yfrog as well as Twitpic allow you to easily upload and share photos on Twitter.

If you have any questions, suggestions or ideas, please contact Jeff Hardin at 919-457-9063. In the meantime, we hope you'll consider Tweeting about #icuday11 at your credit union or chapter celebration!
